Description / Scope / MissionEfficiently provide mechanical support to production lines. Change over production lines in a safe, timely and efficient manner. Ensure setups/startups of production lines meets required quality specifications and standard rate of speed. Conduct basic preventative maintenance on production lines.
Key Responsibilities /Accountabilities- The number one responsibility of this position is safety. Embrace and promote KDC safety, following all SOPs.
- Immediately respond to production line shutdown and administer mechanical support.
- Implement improvements for production line startup and run consistency. Know how to run at published BPM or better than.
- Repair production equipment as necessary.
- Complete line changeovers in a safe, timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct washouts and pre/post run sanitization.
- Ensure line changeovers meet standard rate of speed at startup.
- Ensure line changeovers meet quality standards at startup.
- Suggest and implement improvements in mechanical equipment resulting in increased production line speed or consistency.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance.
- Provide engineering support for new products and new packaging startups.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of production areas.
- Know and understand how to wash out and get to next job as soon as possible, i.e. wash transfer lines before line goes down, if possible.
- Troubleshoot and repair all machinery and process related deficiencies using technical/mechanical skills.
- Working knowledge of all cGMP’s, FDA, OSHA, and ISO
9000 regulations and guidelines. - Working knowledge of equipment manuals and technical documentation.
- Understand their position in keeping the lines up and running efficiently.
- Suggest and implement improvements to reduce changeover time.
- Have knowledge of all machinery and set‑ups.
- Ability to work in a team environment, with a diverse group of personalities.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi‑task in a high‑paced work environment.
- Strong leadership, verbal, written, analytical, mathematical, reasoning, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate high level of leadership, motivation, consistency, and accuracy in all tasks.
- Work with Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, and Company Management to develop, improve, or enhance equipment, methods, processes, and materials for producing new and established products.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned by company management.
- Good standing with the company.
- Working knowledge of TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, and an understanding of equipment efficiency metrics and measures.
- Flexibility in schedule with overtime when needed.
- High school diploma
- Must be able to read, write and understand English.
- 1 to 2 years mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
- None.
- Climb or balance; stoop; and use foot/feet to operate machine (forklift) up to 1/3 of the time.
- Reach above shoulders 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
- Stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or touch; and talk or hear 2/3 and more of the time.
- Up to 50 pounds to be lifted or force to be exerted up to 1/3 of the time.
- Up to 25 pounds to be lifted or force to be exerted 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
- Up to 10 pounds to be lifted or force to be exerted 2/3 and more of the time.
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
- Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
- Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more.)
- Hammer and punch up to 1/3 of the time.
- Screwdriver 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
- Wrenches 2/3 and more of the time.
- Work in high, precarious places; exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; up to 1/3 of the time.
- Wet, humid conditions (non-weather – wet floors); work near moving mechanical parts; and exposure to fumes or airborne particles 2/3 and more of the time.
- Loud noise.
- Rubber boots – washouts.
- Safety (steel-toe) shoes required.
- Safety glasses with side shields required.
- Jacket, gloves, face shield, face mask and/or hairnet for some products.
