Trainer-NL Production - 2nd Shift

Role Summary

The Trainer is responsible for orientating and training all Filling Department new hires to company policies and all position duties in production, Assembly, Line Leader, etc., to produce a quality product at specified quantities in a safe and cost-effective manner while making new hires feel part of the team.

• Ensure all new hires are greeted and welcomed on their first day at the beginning of shift.
• Conduct a short tour of the production floor, lunchrooms, bathrooms, etc.
• Introduce new hires to all Line Leaders and the production team.
• Position each new hire on a line and explain all positions on the line.
• Assign a mentor.
• Check on each new hire throughout the shift.
• Initiate and complete all training documents.
• Introduce line safety including housekeeping expectations.
• Train to perform at standard rates of speed while producing acceptable levels of quality.
• Follow all necessary and required production procedures.
• Inform where emergency stop buttons are and to be aware of surroundings.
• Explain and train quality procedures and cGMPs.
• Perform line work when not training.
• Train employees on all safety training programs specific for the position, i.e., LOTO, and other trainings as required.
• Train employees on timekeeping and labor tracking system.
• May back up Production Supervisor.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Must be able to read, write and understand basic English.

• One or more years of experience as a Trainer in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Must be personable, work well with others and possess good communication skills.

• Walk; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to one-third of the time.
• Stand (all 8 hours of the shift or overtime as required); use hands to finger, handle or touch; and talk or hear two-thirds and more of the time.
• Lift or force to be exerted up to 10 pounds two-thirds and more of the time.
• Lift or force to be exerted up to 25 pounds one-third to two-thirds of the time.
• Lift or force to be exerted up to 50 pounds one-third of the time or less.
• Palletizing – up to 10 feet carrying full cartons and stacking them on a pallet, also dumping bottles into the hopper; sometimes boxes are large and awkward and may require overhead lifting.
• Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
• Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).

• Hand taper and possibly safety knife one-third to two-thirds of the time.

• Exposure to various chemicals two-thirds and more of the time.
• Work near moving mechanical parts two-thirds and more of the time.
• Moderate noise level two-thirds of the time during normal line duties.
• Loud noise level one-third of the time from running motors in surrounding machinery.
• PPE is required on specific jobs and where PPE is required, the LOI will specify what is needed.
