CNC Machinist, Manufacturing Engineer
Step into a role where your programming precision turns raw stock into high-quality parts. In this position, you’ll guide work from concept to cut: programming, prototyping, and fine-tuning machining strategies that reduce cost while elevating quality and throughput.
A day in the lifeYou arrive on the shop floor, review prints and models, then translate them into efficient CAM toolpaths across varied materials and machines. You set up and operate CNC equipment to validate your programs, dialing in speeds and feeds, capturing lessons learned, and updating standards so the next run is faster and cleaner. Collaboration is constant—you advise design on manufacturability, refine fixtures and tooling, and ensure consistent process control from program creation through first-article approval.
Whatyou’ll do
- Set up and operate CNC machines to validate programs and processes.
- Develop efficient CAM programs and machining strategies for diverse materials and equipment.
- Drive cost reductions in both products and processes through optimization of tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Maintain CAM data integrity, records, and standards for programming methods.
- Partner with design to improve manufacturability and reduce rework.
- Implement consistent process controls within the programming workflow.
- Load and unload fixtures, devices, tools, and programs safely and accurately.
- Create, follow, and document standard work; record process data for traceability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree or certification in CNC programming, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
- 2+ years of CNC programming and/or CAM systems development, including EIA and macro program implementation.
- 5+ years of hands‑on CNC machining with strong tooling knowledge; able to set up, edit, troubleshoot, and run multiple CNC control systems.
