Position: Extruder Machine Operator, 3rd Shift (PARFLEX)

Position Summary

At Parflex, our Extrusion Machine Operators do more than run equipment—they create the foundation of products that power high‑stakes systems across the globe. From aerospace and defense to renewable energy and transportation, your work helps shape precision‑engineered hose and tubing used in U.S. military vehicles, advanced aircraft, wind turbine braking systems, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and high‑pressure equipment for construction, oil & gas, and emergency rescue.

Location:

1717 Dufek Drive, Manitowoc, WI. Third shift hours are Sunday–Thursday, 10 pm–6 am. Requires training on 1st shift (Mon–Fri, 6 am–2 pm) for approximately 3 months before moving to third shift. Facility is environmentally controlled 365 days a year.

Competitive Wages

The entry‑level Extruder Operator starts at $22.05 an hour, with a $2.00 per hour shift premium for working 3rd shift. Quarterly bonuses are awarded based on company growth and quality goals, ranging from 2.5% to 10% of annual earnings. An annual perfect attendance bonus of $1,250 is also awarded.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate thermo‑plastic extruders and auxiliary equipment on the extruder line according to engineering specifications; make immediate corrections when possible.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, perform all required testing, record pertinent information, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Determine appropriate changeover of tooling to ensure proper dimensions according to specifications; monitor machines and process, report irregularities to Lead or Supervisor for problem identification and resolution.
  • Handle material for each assigned process.
  • Document, log, and compile reports as required.
  • Participate in area and process team projects and activities.
  • Perform or assist with other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Mathematical aptitude and proficiency.
  • Keyboarding skills and basic MS Office knowledge.
  • Ability to operate forklift and manual/electric jack (training provided).
  • Measurement skills, including use of precision measuring tools and equipment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot for process and product improvement.
  • Effective verbal communication and listening skills in English.
  • Problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Prioritization and management of work projects.
Physical Demands
  • Stand for 8+ hours during a shift.
  • Wear required PPE such as safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, safety vests, and gloves.
  • Perform repetitive hand motions for tasks such as using safety scissors, bending tubing, taping tube, and connecting hose assemblies.
  • Sort items by size, shape, and color.
  • Perform pushing, pulling, kneeling, and squatting as part of daily duties.
  • Lift up to 45 pounds safely.
  • Perceive color accurately and hear plant paging, alarms, and other important auditory signals.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing plant with exposure to moving parts on a line and moving equipment throughout the plant.
