OverviewThe CNC Set Up Technician will be responsible for oversight and development of the prototype process. The CNC Set-Up Technician will perform various machine functions to complete the machining process.
Responsibilities- Setup fixtures and add new tooling to machines where needed.
- Prove-out programs and tooling on Prototypes, ECR’s and Process changes.
- Perform FARs for all Prove-outs.
- Update process and Master Process sheets accordingly.
- Collaborate with programmers on edit changes made to the programs and processes to ensure Cribmaster cycles and tool files are accurate and correct.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve programming and in-process issues.
- Perform process rework and repairs to products as needed.
- Reviewing blueprints and schematics for prototypes and processes.
- Sets up machines and oversight of machines while operating.
- Prepares Fixtures and tools needed for machine operations;
Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments on machine. - Verifies that setup meets acceptable quality standards or other specifications.
- Loads or develops appropriate program in machine controller;
Completes set-up sheets for new parts. - Starts machine and monitors machine operation;
Periodically gauges or measures parts for conformance to specifications. - Monitors operation of machine and verifies conformance of parts to specifications.
- Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct out-of-tolerance sequences.
- Instructs machine operator on production parameters required for the part being produced.
- Removes, replaces and labels containers of finished parts when specified number have been produced.
- Performs routine machine maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree or Certification in CNC programming preferred or equivalent combination of years of experience and education.
- 2 or more years developing cam systems for implementation of EIA and macro programs.
- 2-5 years of hands‑on experience with machining, tooling capability, able to set up, edit, troubleshoot, and operate multiple CNC controls.
- Ability to review and update blueprints and/or schematics.
- There are periodic high noise levels and vibration associated with this job. Sources include engine noise, air compressors, air powered equipment, and other shop noises. Also there is possibly sufficient noise, either constant or intermittent to cause possible hearing loss.
- There are a variety of physical hazards in which there is danger to life, health, or bodily injury, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving equipment, heavy parts, electrical shock, compressed air and exposure to chemicals.
- Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work.
- Air power tools, electric drill, drill press, grinders (both hand and bench), wrenches, torches, welders, a variety of hand tools, mills, and electric cords.
