1st Shift Brake Press Operator
The 1st Shift Brake Press Operator operates press brake equipment to bend, shape, and form metal parts according to detailed project specifications. This role requires strong technical proficiency with CNC press brakes, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and a consistent focus on accuracy and quality while meeting production deadlines in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Operate CNC press brake machines to bend, form, and shape sheet metal, steel plate, and structural components according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to set up and run jobs accurately.
- Select and install appropriate tooling based on bend allowances, material type, and required forming techniques.
- Perform machine setups, including programming or inputting correct parameters for each job.
- Monitor production runs to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Inspect finished parts and make adjustments to machine settings or tooling as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Handle and position sheet metal and steel components safely during setup and operation.
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job status, issues, or improvement opportunities.
- 2–5 years of press brake operating experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC press brake machines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
- Knowledge of bend allowances, tooling selection, and metal forming techniques.
- Experience working with sheet metal, steel plate, or structural components.
- Proficiency in machine operation within a production setting.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
- Ability to work efficiently under production deadlines.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in heavy fabrication environments.
- Experience in enclosure manufacturing or similar metal fabrication applications.
- Comfort working with CNC controls and adjusting machine settings.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot basic machine or process issues.

Work EnvironmentThis is a 1st shift role, working Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with additional hours on Fridays as needed. The position is based in a manufacturing and metal fabrication environment using CNC press brakes and related production equipment. You will work around sheet metal, steel plate, and structural components in a production floor setting, following established safety procedures and standard shop practices.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manitowoc, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
