Maintenance Technician

Job Requirements

Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.

Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment.

Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.

Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.

Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.

Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.

Record repairs and maintenance performed.

Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.

Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials, as necessary.

Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to Diagnose Malfunctions, Using Voltmeters Or Other Testing Devices.

Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.

Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.

Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.

1. This is a skilled position. An employee in this class performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, and equipment. Work involves primary responsibility for proficiency in several trades, with working conditions and the degree of supervision exercised differing according to the location and nature of assignments. The employee exercises technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments orally or through written instructions, which may be accompanied by sketches or diagrams.

Review of work is received from technical or administrative superiors through inspections and discussions.
2. Performs all other similar or related duties as necessary.

• Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trade.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
• Skilled in the care and use of tools and equipment used in trades involved.
• Physically fit.
• Able to work long hours, 12 hours per day, five days a week.
• Have two years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• Training as may have been gained through completion of the 10th school grade.
• Have any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience.
• Proficient in English for effective communication within the team.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating leadership qualities when necessary.
• A commitment to safety standards and practices in all maintenance activities.
• Confidentiality is a must.

• Familiar with the confined space policies used at Jagemann Plating.
• Familiar with the lock out, tag out policies used at Jagemann Plating.
• Detect defects in equipment and make proper repairs or adjustments.
• Interpret and work from pencil sketches and diagrams.
• Knowledge of Jagemann Plating contingency plan.
• Other duties may be assigned.
