Under general supervision of the License Center Administrator, this position supports the License Center by efficiently and effectively being a trusted leader in delivering innovative services and serving the public by licensing drivers, registering, and titling vehicles, Department of Natural Resources (DNR) licensing, and maintaining Vital Records. This position works in a fast-paced License Center and performs front counter customer service duties.
The License Center Specialist is responsible for carrying out the functions in five service areas listed above.
- High School Diploma/GED; and
- A minimum of two (2) years of customer service/clerical experience such as but not limited to greeting the public, handling phone calls, answering questions, troubleshooting customer problems, photocopying, filing, data entry, reporting, and scanning, etc.
- Experience working in a motor vehicle department or as a title clerk for a car dealership.
- Proficient in understanding and speaking languages other than English, such as Spanish, Somali, Chinese, Sudanese, and Arabic, among others.
- Must be bondable.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the State of Minnesota.
- Must comply with all federal and state laws and organizational and departmental policies and regulations.
- Must adhere to data practices policies and standards regarding non-public data. Access to non-public data should be strictly limited to what is necessary to fulfill job responsibilities. While accessing these data, the employee should take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access by individuals without a work‑related reason. Once the work‑related purpose is complete, non-public data must be securely stored in accordance with county policies and Minnesota Statutes.
Monday through Friday, with a regular work schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and a set weekly rotating shift of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Night, weekend, holiday, and overtime hours may be required to meet departmental needs, support special projects, and respond to the service demands of the community served.
