Job Summary

The Senior Procurement Manager will plan, organize and control the sourcing of materials and services for major strategic commodities highly impactful to the finance of the organization, ensuring global supply management strategies that deliver supplier partnerships, supplier base reduction, asset management, quality improvement, delivery and cycle time performance, and early supplier involvement in new product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and administer complex procurement contracts that encompass cost savings and delivery, leading moderately to complex negotiations on strategic sourcing contracts with accurate documentation.
  • Select, appoint and steer a supply base that progresses objectives on cost, cash, service levels and technology platforms.
  • Develop, evaluate and manage supplier relationships to accomplish material cost, availability and inventory goals, analyzing and troubleshooting quality problems and influencing suppliers for resolution.
  • Maintain supplier quality through assessment, evaluation and ongoing monitoring, including supplier performance management in delivery, process flexibility and total cost management, periodic credit reviews, site audits and performance metrics reporting.
  • Serve as liaison between suppliers and company to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve issues, delivering solutions to avoid supply interruption and adverse costs.
  • Procure and evaluate new materials for each phase of design, coordinating supplier information gathering, arranging engineering samples, and leading the qualification process of new or updated materials with inspection.
  • Support production/new product introduction as a member and/or materials resource on product development teams.
  • Design, develop and implement commodity procurement plans, managing the transition of new and existing business to strategic suppliers and ensuring a smooth transition to customers.
  • Develop inventory targets, monitor processes to forecast fluctuations and alert teams of needed inventory adjustments.
  • Develop and monitor plans to minimize obsolete, out‑of‑date or scrap material efficiently and cost‑effectively.
  • Review, research, design, implement and monitor Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, providing leadership and direction to cross‑functional relationships with suppliers, Production, Quality, Finance and logistics planning.
  • Lead research of new products/process technologies and influence design and material selection to ensure lowest cost materials/services at highest quality and on‑time delivery.
  • Monitor and manage external influences to cost and performance, including economic, logistical and environmental factors.
  • Provide guidance and daily direction to buyers relative to business partners and suppliers.
  • Execute regulatory requirements, including country of origin certificates and other international shipping requirements, and assign Harmonized Tariff Codes to purchased parts.
  • Monitor market technology and trends, keeping the business aware of necessary industry movements relevant to production and sourcing markets.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering or equivalent.

Experience

Typically requires a minimum of 7 years managing moderately complex procurement contracts, vendor negotiations and the sourcing of goods and services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence others, lead work teams and provide guidance to staff.
  • Effective management of complex internal and external supplier relationships requiring diplomacy, negotiation and specialized knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate with all levels throughout the organization and external vendors, strong customer service orientation, excellent problem solving skills and ability to drive results.
  • Good working knowledge of a wide variety of mechanical/electrical devices, ability to perform specialized analysis/calculations, and knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP), JD Edwards (JDE), logistics and domestic/international contract writing.
  • Requires some domestic and potentially some international travel.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Expertise in managing projects from concept development to implementation and evaluation.
  • Relocation included.
Salary

Annual Salary: USD 130,000 – 135,000.
