Overview
Chokio-Alberta Public School is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered K–12 Principal to serve as the instructional and administrative leader of the school. The Principal is responsible for providing leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, student services, staff supervision, and daily building operations. In this small-school setting, the Principal works closely with students, staff, families, and the community to ensure a safe, supportive, and high-quality educational environment for all learners.
MajorResponsibilities
- Instructional Leadership
- Provide leadership for the implementation and continuous improvement of curriculum, instruction, and assessment across all grade levels.
- Supervise and evaluate instructional staff in accordance with district policy, collective bargaining agreements, and Minnesota statutes.
- Promote effective instructional practices and professional growth aligned with district goals and state standards.
- Utilize student performance data to guide decision-making and improve academic outcomes.
- School Climate and Student Support
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that supports academic success and student well-being.
- Support student behavior, attendance, and engagement using developmentally appropriate and restorative practices.
- Collaborate with student support services to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
- Personnel Leadership
- Supervise, support, and evaluate licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Promote a collaborative school culture focused on continuous improvement and shared leadership.
- Participate in hiring, orientation, and retention of staff as assigned.
- Operations and Administration
- Oversee daily building operations, including scheduling, supervision, safety procedures, and facility use.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, Minnesota Department of Education requirements, and applicable state and federal laws.
- Assist with budget development, fiscal oversight, and resource management as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Family and Community Relations
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members.
- Serve as a positive representative of the school and district within the community.
- Encourage family and community engagement in school programs and activities.
Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, in accordance with district policy.
