One-on-One Appointment Facilitation
Provide individual career planning and job and internship search guidance to students and recent alumni of all majors through scheduled and drop-in appointments on topics including:
- Resume, Cover Letter and Linked In profile reviews
- Choosing or Changing Majors
- Part-time Job Search (on-and-off campus)
- Job/Internship Search
- Interview Preparation
- Mock Interview
- Grad School Planning /Personal Statement Review
Quick Stop/Drop-in Facilitation
Provide primary coverage for daily Quick Stop which includes drop-in hours on above topic areas (10–15-minute sessions) and providing feedback on job application materials via e-mail.
Weekly Case Consultation, Training & Supervision
Actively participate in weekly graduate staff case consultation, training, and one-on-one supervision meetings.
Presentations
- Present to student groups (e.g. residence halls, fraternities/sororities, student organizations, entry-level academic classes) on career and job search topics such as:

Career Events
Assist with preparation and implementation of on-and-off-campus career events and job/internship fairs (e.g. Fall Career & Internship Expo).
CDC Office Operations
Assist with basic office functions as requested: representing the CDC Office at outreach events (tabling, etc.), support staff assistance, coverage of front desk, photobooth assistance, Career Resource Library assistance, Handshake job & internship postings, social media communications, etc.
Assigned Individual/Collaborative Special Projects
Assist with special projects as requested by professional and support staff.
Miscellaneous Duties as Assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic technology skills.
- Must be able to work effectively with the various publics with which the CDC regularly interacts (employers, faculty, students, etc.).
- Should be a self-starter who can work well independently and as an enthusiastic member of the CDC team.
- Ability to effectively present information to groups of students.
- Ability to work on-site at the CDC office for 20 hours per week.
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
- Pursuing a graduate degree in Counseling and Student Personnel, Education, or another related field.
- High interest in and commitment to the field of higher education, student affairs, and/or career development.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATIONMinnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
