Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary

Starting Salary: $72,600 to $108,900 per year

• Drive improvement and corrective action in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers
• Provide technical support in the selection and evaluation of suppliers, including on-site visits and audits
• Develop and improve suppliers’ capabilities before and after product launch; manage product audits
• Support Engineering Change Management and verify implementation of Corrective Action plans, quality systems, and operations
• Work with suppliers to minimize and eliminate quality/performance issues using tools such as 8-D, control plans, and design reviews
• Track all supplier-related costs associated with inferior quality or service; summarize costs and work with suppliers to eliminate issues
• Update and revise the supplier evaluation system to meet quality requirements and qualify new suppliers
• Guide the development of Quality Control Plans and PPAPs for new products; implement lean manufacturing and error-proofing strategies with suppliers
• Write and revise operating procedures to comply with new practices and ERP integration
• Assist QA Manager with plant and department quality performance metrics, metric reporting, and corrective actions
• Participate in continual improvement programs to support department KPIs
• Occasional travel (up to 25%) to support supplier and customer needs

• 4-6 years of experience in manufacturing with a preference for supplier quality
• Experience with electrical generation is a plus
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal in English)
• ASQ certification desirable; not required
• Spanish as a second language beneficial
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to resolve problems and recognize opportunities with little direction; work independently and with minimal supervision
• Must be a U.S. citizen for positions at the North Mankato facility

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or science field
