Job Description
Develop customized and unique packaging concepts based on customer specifications. Prepare accurate detailed documentation and direction for the fabrication of prototype and production tooling.
Key Responsibilities- Design prototype and production tooling with emphasis on quality, cost, and manufacturability.
- Provide detailed prints, sketches, CAD model files, and assembly drawings required to fabricate new tools.
- Provide direction to tooling personnel during tool fabrication and record labor time through E2 Shop System.
- Use self-inspection methods to assure engineering documents provide correct and accurate instructions for the tool room.
- Create files for 3D printing models and set up/operate 3D printers.
- Work on process-improvement projects to enhance product quality, process efficiencies, and reduce costs incurred by rework.
- Maintain a safe work environment: attend required training, identify and report hazards, wear required PPE, and report injuries to EHS Manager or supervisors.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and needs to maintain continuity among work teams.
- Promote a service-oriented and cooperative image for the Design Engineering department.
- Participate in and lead World Class Operations Management (WCOM) projects and Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum five years of tool design and fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in CAD software (IDEAS NX or Solidworks preferred).
- Intermediate computer knowledge including MS Office, SAP production reporting system, and E2 Shop System.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, able to meet critical deadlines in changing priorities.
- Strong work ethic, reliable, trustworthy, and collaborative.
- Good organizational skills. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of machining, tool fabrication methods and CAD equipment operation.
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering program or equivalent work experience.
Compensation- Base salary range: $64,700 to $80,900 (may vary up to $97,100 depending on experience).
