Shift: 1st Shift (Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm)

Location:

On‑site, Mankato, MN

Starting Salary: $72,600 – $108,900 (bi‑weekly)

Position Objective

Research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, directing and coordinating activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • With Direct Supervision:
    • Evaluate FEA results and provide critical decisions
    • Review and analyze product test data and provide guidance and recommendations
    • Compose and present analysis reports within the organization and to customers
  • Without Direct Supervision:
    • Perform calculations using tools such as Excel, Math Cad, and Xlrotor
    • Conduct finite element structural analysis
    • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions
    • Research and analyze customer design requirements, specifications, and manuals
    • Work with sales to create design proposals based on customer specifications
    • Create detailed designs for manufacturing in a cross‑functional environment focusing on manufacturability and quality initiatives
    • Maintain and support existing products for reliability, cost, and manufacturability improvements
    • Assign GD&T dimensional tolerances and verify tolerance stack‑ups
    • Review drawing packages and order documentation from other designers and engineers
    • Communicate product specifications to electrical and mechanical designers
    • Design products to meet safety, industry, and agency certification requirements
    • Estimate project effort and completion times
    • Ensure the latest design practices are utilized
    • Perform testing to evaluate structural, thermal, and vibration characteristics
    • Create bills of materials and assist designers/technicians with BOM creation
    • Coordinate assembly and testing activities to ensure conformity to design and customer specifications
    • Collaborate with production during initial machine release to overcome manufacturing or procurement challenges
    • Evaluate customer test requirements and assign or develop test procedures
    • Document and communicate technical results within the company and to customers as appropriate
    • Present proposed designs to customers and negotiate changes to resolve functional or dimensional issues
Experience & Skills
  • Knowledge of AC or DC synchronous/inductive motors and generators
  • Experience with rotating equipment and generators
  • Product design and development experience in structural and mechanical machinery
  • 3–7 years of related work experience in structural and mechanical machinery product design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with engineering tools for calculations and analysis (Excel, MathCAD)
  • Proficient in PTC Creo or similar 3D modeling software and AutoCAD
  • Experience with GD&T
  • Familiarity with Oracle (ERP), Aras (PLM), Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete responsibilities promptly
  • Demonstrated initiative, organization, and professional work habits
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Additional Job Details

Must be a U.S. citizen for positions at the North Mankato facility.
