Job Description
Controls Engineer Specialist – Pioneer the next generation of innovation. This position is a technical expert leading the research, design, and development of new products, interfacing control systems related to system operation, and leading the development of software for sustainable solutions.
Key Accountabilities- Lead architect for control system platforms and HMI multi-touchscreen development, generator panel, and SCADA cabinets.
- Technical lead for development of controller software for sustainable solutions like microgrids, battery containers, and fuel cells.
- Manage specification of interfaces between MTU hardware (ECU’s, control panels, PLC's) and balance-of-plant systems such as switch gear and power distribution systems globally.
- Develop special customer applications with MTU control system.
- Design control systems for R&D programs.
- Interface electrical and mechanical applications and systems with MTU control system.
- Work directly with controls and governor manufacturers to improve functionality and mitigate issues.
- Specify, design, validate, and maintain MTU control systems.
- Hardware responsibilities: voltage regulators, control panels, engine ECUs, PLC’s, protective relays.
- Coordinate with global electrical engineering organization on projects.
- Assist all company areas with controls related issues; devise strategic plans using data for problem resolution.
- Involve in development and validation of special customer projects as required.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering and 7 years of electrical/controls or electronics engineering experience;
- Or 11 years of electrical/controls or electronics engineering experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel for business trips (20%).
- Excellent technical knowledge of control systems for gas and diesel fueled power generation systems for continuous, standby and mission critical applications including subsystems such as switch gear, transformer stations/substations, grid interconnections, and controls for island and microgrid solutions.
- Excellent knowledge of power generation and distribution systems.
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills to gather facts and draw conclusions in complex situations.
- Excellent ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, line diagrams, ladder diagrams, point-to-point diagrams and shop drawings.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
- Strong organization, planning, and follow-up skills.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
- Strong computer skills:
AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD electrical, programming of programmable logic devices, MS Office and Bluebeam Revu.
