Position SummaryThis position is responsible for performing Electrical engineering work related to the integration of power generation equipment in direct account customer projects within the Project Systems Engineering team. The position requires high levels of client interactions, coordination with product R&D and custom engineering teams within Friedrichshafen and Mankato, and continuously supporting the Project Systems Execution team.
Key Accountabilities- Manages project design and development for new or existing products.
- Serves as the technical authority over one key direct account, supporting the primary project manager and acting as the primary engineering POC for all RRSA design activities associated with that key direct account.
- Provides guidance on design and development of generator set control systems, wiring harnesses, electrical diagrams, electronic engine systems, automatic voltage regulators, transformers, heaters, distribution panels, motor controls, protective relays, LV & MV paralleling switch gear, and other electrical aspects of products.
- Verifies manufacturer’s wiring drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, data sheets and related drawings for compliance with design specifications.
- Researches and analyzes requirements from engineering standards, contracts and proposal documents.
- Ensures engineering calculations and drawings comply with applicable electrical codes and contract requirements, using industry standard/MTU adopted symbology and naming conventions.
- Prepares and finalizes equipment specifications for major electrical equipment.
- Selects effective design concepts and core technology for new or improved products.
- Reviews customer specifications against MTU designs and vendor proposals to formally identify compliance status for client review and approval ahead of any design freeze.
- Completes work according to standard engineering principles and practices.
- Follows ERP procedures per the company’s quality system.
- Promotes a compliance culture in the area of responsibility and adheres to the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
- Performs special projects as required.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 5 years of electrical engineering experience in design, field service, application, sales or manufacturing engineering; or 9 years of experience in the same fields.
- Willingness to travel for business trips up to 30%.
- Excellent applied knowledge of diesel and gas reciprocating engines and AC power systems.
- Strong organization, planning and follow-up skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret general procedures and fluent English.
- Entrepreneurial mindset.
- Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with multiple cultures and client types.
- Excellent ability to read and interpret line diagrams, ladder diagrams, and point-to-point diagrams.

- Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer skills:
AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD electrical, programming (PLC), MS Office. - Service/Test experience.
- Computer skills: SAP / Windchill.
- OSHA
30 certificate.
