Monday-Friday 7:00-5:00
The Non-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant / Certified Ophthalmic Assistant engages with patients, seeks to understand patient needs, and gathers information for the ophthalmologist. They will perform visual function and diagnostic tests as directed by the ophthalmologist/optometrist. The Ophthalmic Assistant also performs duties as a scribe during the provider's exam.
The ideal candidate has a desire to learn and grow. Within the first year of employment, the Ophthalmic Assistant will work towards their Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
Required- High school diploma or equivalent
- Dedication to patient satisfaction
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work cooperatively with physicians and other staff members
- Must obtain CPR certificate within 30 days of employment
- Completion of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Home Study Course with Certification through JCAHPO as an Ophthalmic Assistant expected within 1 year of hire date
- Experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA/CNA), PCA, Optometric Assistant, Optician, Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA), or experience in an ophthalmology or optometric office
Employment is contingent on successful completion of drug screen, health assessment, and background check.
Benefits & CompensationBase Pay Range: $18.25-$25.55, initial pay based on relevant work experience.
Additional compensation if candidate is already Certified as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Medical Assistant, or a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Our clinic environment offers primarily daytime, weekday schedules, helping employees maintain consistency in their daily routines. All employees scheduled 60-80 hours per pay period are eligible for full benefits.
