OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

The Health and Nutrition Advisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of health, safety, and nutrition program services to enrolled Head Start pregnant participants, children ages birth to 5 years old and their families. These services will include ensuring compliance with child health requirement, coordinating follow-up treatment services, supporting nutrition and wellness initiatives, and leading program-wide health and safety practices, training and compliance efforts.

Responsible for managing the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsorship for MVAC. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a Health Services Advisory Committee. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with families, partners, coworkers, and other community service providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCITIONS OF THE JOB:

Plan, develop, implement, and monitor compliance of Health and Nutrition Program Services to all Head Start pregnant participants, children ages birth to 5 yrs. old and their families.

Manage the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).Plan, develop, implement, and monitor the overall safety training, policies and procedures for enrolled Head Start participants, facilities and staff.

Abide by MVAC agency policies, Head Start Performance Standards, and the MN DCYF Childcare Center Statutes and Rules.

Completing required paperwork and data entry accurately within established timelines following program requirements and the established protocol.

Applicant must have a Bachelor degree in a health services field or community health. Minimum of 2 years' experience in one of the above degree areas and knowledge of nutrition, dental & pediatric health is preferred. This position requires strong computer, communication and organizational skills, Technical writing skills and experience with varied adult training styles is desirable.
