The ideal candidate will contribute immediately to an active roadmap extending into 2026 and beyond. Responsibilities span new development, platform enhancements, feature delivery, ongoing maintenance, and production support. The engineer will collaborate across onshore and offshore teams and work closely with enterprise mobile and emerging technology groups on cross-platform initiatives.
- Design, develop, and maintain Drupal-based web applications hosted on Acquia Cloud.
- Collaborate with the Lead Architect to implement architectural standards, best practices, and scalable solutions across the broader ecosystem.
- Own mid- to senior-level development initiatives, enabling the Principal Developer to focus on higher-level architecture and strategy.
- Build new features, enhance custom modules, and implement backend functionality using PHP and Drupal frameworks.
- Contribute across both frontend and backend layers within Drupal.
- Translate design artifacts and wireframes into functional, performant components as needed.
- Partner with UI/UX teams and offshore frontend developers to ensure consistency, usability, and scalability.
- Work closely with product owners, scrum masters, QA engineers, and mobile/emerging technology teams in a multi-track Agile environment.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Coordinate daily with offshore development and QA teams to ensure effective communication and delivery continuity.
- Diagnose and resolve defects, performance issues, and system inconsistencies across multiple Drupal environments.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, production support, and incremental enhancements.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives, including mobile and chatbot integrations, as needed.
- Ensure high code quality through documentation, adherence to Drupal and PHP standards, and disciplined Git workflows.
- Partner with offshore QA resources to provide technical context, review testing outcomes, and support deployment readiness.
- 10+ years of hands-on Drupal development experience (Drupal 8/9/10 preferred).
- Strong full stack engineering background, including theming, component development, APIs, and backend logic.
- Advanced PHP expertise and hands-on experience with the Acquia Cloud Platform.
- Proven experience developing, modifying, and deploying custom Drupal modules.
- Strong understanding of Drupal integrations with internal and external systems.
- Experience working with distributed teams, including offshore development and QA.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaboration with product and delivery teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage deeply on technical topics while translating concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in regulated industries such as education and finance
- Exposure to mobile integrations and cross-platform initiatives.
- Background working in fast-paced environments with complex roadmaps and cross-team dependencies.
- Willingness to learn from and collaborate closely with a Principal Architect while progressively taking on greater responsibility.
- Growth-oriented mindset with interest in long-term impact and potential advancement into a more senior role.
- Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and the ability to adapt quickly to new challenges.
