Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide front-line support through scheduled drop-ins and consultations on accessible course design and universal design for learning (UDL), while keeping records of the events.
- Support faculty and instructional staff with digital accessibility remediation of instructional materials (e.g., Word documents, PDFs, presentations, and multimedia) in alignment with WCAG 2.1 Level AA and Section 508 requirements.
- Assist with institutionally supported instructional technology platforms, including D2L Brightspace, Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, YuJa Panorama, Kaltura Media Space, and emerging educational technologies.
- Conduct accessibility checks, reviews, and audits of instructional content and provide clear, actionable feedback and recommendations.
- Create, update, and maintain knowledge base articles and documentation for faculty and staff.
- Assist with data collection, reporting, and special projects supporting instructional technology and digital accessibility initiatives within IT.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Interest in digital accessibility and inclusive design.
- Strong verbal communication and technology skills.
- Comfortable being on-camera using Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Emphasis on empathy and understanding of diverse perspectives.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
- A Bachelor's Degree
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
- Experience with accessibility standards (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508).
- Familiarity with manual and automated accessibility tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro, YuJa, Wave, PAC, JAWS, NVDA, keyboard-only testing, etc.)
- Skilled in document remediation (PDF, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- Background in education, instructional design, disability studies, UX, or related fields.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
