TravelRequired:
travel within District 7, periodic statewide, occasional national (up to 25% travel, 10% overnight).
- Provide executive leadership, strategic direction, managerial expertise and organizational direction for all operations related to the District Management Team.
- Lead planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance of state roadways across 13 counties (~1,300 miles).
- Oversee large transportation infrastructure projects, leveraging technology and equipment.
- Build and maintain relationships with cities, counties and elected officials.
- Develop public policy, set priorities and implement programs integrated across counties.
- Focus areas: transportation program delivery, business and strategic planning, department‑wide collaboration, organizational evaluation and change management.
- Provide ongoing support to managers and leadership to ensure continuous improvement, innovation, streamlined programs and cost‑effective policies.
- Current registration as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board (AELSLAGID).
- At least three years of managerial experience overseeing a complex civil engineering team, providing strategic direction, budget and staff management and policy development.
- Leadership and Management:
Experience leading program delivery and maintenance with trust, transparency and accountability; leading teams and organizational change. - Technical Expertise:
Broad understanding of technical areas affecting MnDOT’s engineering and maintenance activities, and support for project management. - Fiscal and Human Resources Management:
Experience using resources effectively and implementing diverse service delivery models to achieve objectives. - Policy making and Strategic Direction:
Experience developing and implementing innovative policies, practices and strategic initiatives; familiarity with the legislative process. - Relationship Building:
Experience collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders, building effective internal and external partnerships.
