Position Overview

The Manufacturing Supervisor works closely with the Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent to ensure the production of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations. The role operates a rotating shift with an assigned crew.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and supervise equipment and personnel activities with a focus on Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Spoilage.
  • Communicate pertinent information between departments and shifts regarding equipment, schedules, and production issues.
  • Perform on‑the‑job training and coaching for all employees as needed.
  • Apply knowledge of various processes and production methods to improve plant production.
  • Manage machinery set‑up, adjustment, and inspect products to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Oversee quality and recommend modifications to existing standards for optimal performance.
  • Complete and administer documentation such as production sheets, pallet tickets, job progressions, disciplinary actions, monthly SAFE cards, time and attendance, accident reports, and process control sheets.
  • Perform additional job‑related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Education or GED.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a high‑speed manufacturing environment.
  • At least three years of proven supervisory experience.
  • Availability to work various shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Packaging industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands, and sometimes balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily in a plant environment with some duties performed in an office setting.
  • Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
  • Exposure to a range of temperatures and frequent loud noise.
Possible Equivalent Military Titles
  • Logistician, Store Manager, Supply and Warehousing Manager, Transportation Manager, Transportation Maintenance Manager.
