Saw Operator – 1st Shift

This role operates and sets up metal cutting saws to accurately cut raw steel and other metal materials according to customer specifications. The position involves frequent use of hand and power tools, precise measuring, blueprint reading, and basic machine maintenance in a fast-paced production environment.

• Set up metal saws and related equipment to prepare for cutting metal according to production requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to determine correct dimensions, materials, and cutting specifications.
• Use a tape measure throughout the day to verify measurements and ensure all cuts meet customer and production specifications.
• Select and pick the correct raw material from work orders and stage it for cutting operations.
• Operate saws, band saws, drill presses, press brakes, and other metal fabrication equipment as needed for production.
• Measure and mark raw steel and sheet metal to make accurate cuts for production runs.
• Transfer cut material and finished parts to the appropriate workstations or areas within the shop.
• Perform light maintenance on machines, including adding oil, changing blades, and reporting any issues to maintenance personnel.
• Deburr and finish cut parts as required to meet quality standards.
• Load and unload materials, including operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment as needed.
• Follow all safety procedures while working with industrial machinery, hand tools, power tools, and metal materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and support general labor tasks in the machine shop and fabrication areas.
• Work collaboratively with production team members to meet daily and weekly production goals.

• 1–2 years of consistent work history in a production, manufacturing, machine shop, or similar hands-on environment.
• Proficiency using a tape measure accurately and consistently throughout the workday.
• Experience with saw operation, including setup and operation of metal cutting saws.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders to perform accurate cuts.
• Basic machine setup skills for saws and related fabrication equipment.
• Experience using hand and power tools in an industrial or fabrication setting.
• Ability to perform light machine maintenance such as adding oil and changing blades.
• Comfort working with raw metal materials, including steel and sheet metal.
• Ability to lift, move, and transfer metal materials safely within a production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy with measurements and cuts.

• Experience in a machine shop, metal fabrication, or industrial production environment.
• Familiarity with band saws, drill presses, CNC equipment, press brakes, and other fabrication machinery.
• Experience with deburring, assembly, and general production tasks.
• Forklift operation or other material-handling experience.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as micrometers and other precision instruments.
• Comfort working in a general labor capacity to support various production needs.
