Job DescriptionPosition Overview
The Manufacturing Supervisor works closely with the Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent to ensure the production of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations. The position works a rotating shift with an assigned crew.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Coordinate and supervise activities of equipment and personnel throughout the facility with a focus on optimizing safety, quality, productivity, and spoilage.
- Communicate all pertinent information between departments and between shifts regarding changes to equipment, production schedules, production problems, or other related issues.
- Work with employees to identify, discuss solutions, and implement fixes on machinery and equipment problems.
- Perform and facilitate on‑the‑job training and/or coaching of all employees as needed.
- Apply knowledge of various processes and production methods to improve plant production.
- Manage machinery set‑up and adjustment; inspect products to ensure compliance with standards.
- Oversee quality and recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within equipment limits.
- Complete and administer necessary documentation such as production sheets, pallet ticketing, job progressions, disciplinary actions, monthly SAFE cards, time and attendance, accident reports, and process control sheets.
- Perform other job‑related duties as required or assigned.
In addition to the responsibilities above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum Requirements- High School Education/GED
- Five to seven years of experience in a high‑speed manufacturing environment
- At least three years of proven supervisory experience
- Must be available to work various shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Packaging industry experience
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing
- Strong problem‑solving skills, individually or collaboratively.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Creative thinking and ability to consider new solutions.
- Effective leadership skills, including conflict resolution, communication, and decision making.
- Employee relations skills and ability to motivate people.
- Excellent time‑management and project‑management skills; ability to multi‑task.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms; may need to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus.
- Work primarily in a plant environment with some duties in a typical office setting.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- Exposure to a wide range of temperatures.
- Work in a typically loud environment.
