Job Description
Position Overview

The Manufacturing Supervisor works closely with the Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent to ensure the production of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations. The position works a rotating shift with an assigned crew.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate and supervise activities of equipment and personnel throughout the facility with a focus on optimizing safety, quality, productivity, and spoilage.
  • Communicate all pertinent information between departments and between shifts regarding changes to equipment, production schedules, production problems, or other related issues.
  • Work with employees to identify, discuss solutions, and implement fixes on machinery and equipment problems.
  • Perform and facilitate on‑the‑job training and/or coaching of all employees as needed.
  • Apply knowledge of various processes and production methods to improve plant production.
  • Manage machinery set‑up and adjustment; inspect products to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Oversee quality and recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal performance within equipment limits.
  • Complete and administer necessary documentation such as production sheets, pallet ticketing, job progressions, disciplinary actions, monthly SAFE cards, time and attendance, accident reports, and process control sheets.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to the responsibilities above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Education/GED
  • Five to seven years of experience in a high‑speed manufacturing environment
  • At least three years of proven supervisory experience
  • Must be available to work various shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Packaging industry experience
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing

  • Strong problem‑solving skills, individually or collaboratively.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Creative thinking and ability to consider new solutions.
  • Effective leadership skills, including conflict resolution, communication, and decision making.
  • Employee relations skills and ability to motivate people.
  • Excellent time‑management and project‑management skills; ability to multi‑task.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms; may need to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
  • Work primarily in a plant environment with some duties in a typical office setting.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
  • Exposure to a wide range of temperatures.
  • Work in a typically loud environment.
