Spherion Staffing is excited to partner with a leading manufacturer in Mankato, MN to find a skilled and dedicated Machine Setup Technician. This is a Direct Hire opportunity, meaning you become a permanent member of the team from day one with full benefits-no contract or temporary period required!
In this vital role, you will set up and operate production equipment to meet precision quality standards and daily manufacturing schedules. You'll play a key part in maintaining efficient, safe shop floor operations while contributing directly to plant success.

Responsibilities:
Equipment Setup & Operations:
Set-up and operate production machinery to meet targeted production rates and quality specifications.
Proficiently set up 3 of 8 primary machine groups upon hire, with active on-the-job training to master the remaining groups.
Monitor machine run conditions continuously to optimize run efficiency and minimize downtime.
Perform material handling tasks as required to ensure uninterrupted shop flow.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Troubleshoot and resolve basic production/equipment issues; adjust processes and elevate complex failures for additional maintenance support.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment and arrange for technical repairs as needed.
Quality Control & Documentation:
Monitor production quality against product specifications, making required mechanical adjustments.
Accurately document setup procedures, machine parameters, and production output in daily logs and reporting sheets.
Safety & Continuous Improvement:
Maintain a clean, safe workspace adhering to OSHA and facility safety regulations, required PPE, and hazard reporting protocols.
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including learning and applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Foster a positive, collaborative environment through strong teamwork and cross-functional communication.

Skills:

Good written and verbal communication skills.
Post-secondary school in a related field recommended
A strong work ethic, reliable, trustworthy, have the capacity and willingness to learn, can contribute new ideas, respect their co-workers and understand the importance of working together as a team.
Computer literate. Ability to learn and adapt to changing computer programs.
Able to accurately use various forms of measurement equipment (i.e. caliper, micro-meter)
Ability to comprehend and document SPC and ISO basic components.
Strong math skills

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Good mechanical/technical ability and aptitude.
Related work experience in a manufacturing environment.
