Overview
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all quality activities related to generator assembly, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations. This role leads and mentors the Quality Technicians and Quality Inspectors, manages inspection and testing processes, and partners with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Warranty teams to drive corrective and preventive actions, supplier accountability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Quality Oversight & Compliance – Oversee inspection of incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished generators to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Ensure mechanical, electrical, and functional testing of generators and subassemblies is performed accurately and consistently. Review and approve inspection results, test data, and quality documentation within the Quality Management System (QMS). Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), work instructions, and applicable quality standards.
- Supervisory & Leadership Responsibilities – Supervise, train, and mentor Quality Technicians and Inspectors on inspection methods, testing procedures, and documentation requirements. Assign daily work, establish priorities, and ensure staffing levels support production schedules. Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and address performance or disciplinary matters. Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- DMR / Supplier Quality – Initiate and manage Nonconformances and DMRs (Discrepant Material Reports), defined as formal records used to identify, document, and return non-conforming materials to suppliers. Coordinate DMRs with Purchasing, Engineering, and suppliers to ensure timely resolution, replacement, and/or corrective and preventive action. Track Nonconformance and DMR trends and supplier performance metrics to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
Verify containment of defective materials to prevent unintended use in production. - Nonconformance & Corrective Action – Identify, document, and manage internal non-conformances, including issuing and tracking corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Lead root cause analysis and CAPA activities using structured problem-solving methodologies. Coordinate containment, rework, and disposition of non-conforming materials and products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Improvement – Partner with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Warranty teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions. Support supplier quality initiatives, including incoming inspection criteria and corrective action follow-up. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, rework elimination, and process consistency. Assist with internal, customer, and third-party audits.
- Job Requirements – Experience in Quality Control in a manufacturing environment preferred. Working knowledge of genset control systems preferred. Ability to read and develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic. Familiarity with generator operation, synchronization, load sharing, and protective relaying. Familiarity with mechanical aspects of gensets (cooling systems, enclosures, fuel systems) is a plus.
- Soft Skills – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Detail-oriented with a commitment to product quality and safety. Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
