Quality Engineer – New Product Introduction (NPI)
Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer – New Product Introduction will ensure the highest standards of quality are integrated into the design and development of new genset products at Rolls‑Royce, Mankato. This role is pivotal in enhancing product reliability, supporting innovation, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations to maintain customer satisfaction and brand reputation.
- NPI Quality Planning
:
Develop and implement quality plans specifically tailored for new product introductions, ensuring that quality is embedded from the initial design phase through to production. - Design for Quality
:
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to incorporate quality considerations into product designs using tools such as DFSS and FMEA. Oversee & facilitate the PFMEA process. - Prototype Testing and Validation
:
Oversee the testing and validation of prototypes to ensure they statistically & confidently meet quality standards and performance specifications before full‑scale production. - Launch Readiness Assessment
:
Conduct quality assessments to ensure that all quality criteria are met before product launch, minimizing the risk of defects and ensuring a smooth market entry. Timely escalation of quality concerns to senior management. - Post‑Launch Quality Monitoring
:
Monitor product quality post‑launch to identify any emerging issues and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality and customer satisfaction. - Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls‑Royce Code of Conduct. Perform special projects as required.
- Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing engineering.
- 3 years of quality engineering experience with large industrial equipment, or 7 years of quality engineering experience with large industrial equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours or shifts.
- Strong knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
- Experience applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of large industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of quality control, raw materials, manufacturing processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture of large industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of NFPA
70, NEC, UL2200 and CSA. - Familiar with plant operations and equipment.
- Knowledge of MTU components and products.
- Knowledge of genset performance requirements.
- Knowledge of gauge and test equipment.
