Mayo Clinic Global Security Officers provide a professional level of customer service and security presence.
A security officer will proactively patrol Mayo Clinic property and security‑sensitive areas, assist visitors, patients and staff as needed, and help prevent and deter fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and other incidents.
The officer may utilize a security vehicle on a regular or occasional basis; enforce Mayo policies and respond to complaints and service calls, prepare incident reports/activity logs, and may work in the security control centers.
They adapt to unpredictable and stressful situations; manage altercations and emergency crises professionally; operate and communicate on a two‑way radio; exhibit good judgment, maturity, initiative, tact and diplomacy when dealing with people in stressful situations.
They frequently walk, stand, stoop, bend, lift, pull, climb, reach, push and occasionally run, moving quickly up and down stairwells without assistance; assist patients, volunteers, visitors and staff with emergency evacuations, including handling emergency evacuation devices used to transport patients and others to safety; make effective first‑responder decisions and work as a team with other emergency responders, including law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel.
They are able to work nights and weekends for security and protection assignments and when required by emergency or special situations.
This position may be required to carry and deploy a taser.

QualificationsHigh school degree or GED equivalent is required.
Associate’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, security, or a related field preferred; minimum two years of experience in a customer service, military, security position and/or a similar role; experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Experience in patrolling, incident report writing, defensive tactics, emergency response, lock/unlock procedures, door access and CCTV camera operation.
Experience with Windows XP or newer as well as intermediate skills in Microsoft Office software applications; technical aptitude to work with Security Technology is preferred.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors and employees; strong written and verbal skills; strong problem‑solving skills are necessary.
Demonstrated ability to restrain potentially violent individuals, remain calm and assume control of emergency situations.
Must maintain routine and ongoing training and development as required by the organization or department.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; must obtain certification from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) as a Healthcare Security Officer within six months; training certification in AVADE Workplace Violence Training, basic CPR and AED required within one year.

Compensation Detail$21.91 – $29.60/hour; education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
SchedulePart Time.
Shifts will vary between days, evenings and overnights. Holidays and weekends may be required; weekends as needed.
