Service Technician
This role focuses on repairing, maintaining, and servicing petroleum-related equipment used in the fueling industry. You will travel to customer sites, diagnose issues with pumps, tanks, monitors, gauges, and meter readouts, and complete repairs using the correct parts and tools. You will manage your service van and its inventory, ensure accurate documentation, and provide clear explanations of work performed to customers who may have limited technical knowledge.
Responsibilities- Travel to customer locations to service and repair petroleum industry equipment, including pumps, tanks, monitors, gauges, and meter readouts.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic issues on‑site, identify root causes, and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Order and manage the correct parts needed to complete repairs efficiently and safely.
- Take full responsibility for the service van, including maintaining inventory, cleanliness, and organization of tools and equipment.
- Use hand tools and basic electrical tools to perform repairs, installations, and maintenance tasks.
- Read and interpret work orders, then complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Explain issues, repair options, and completed work clearly to customers with varying levels of technical understanding.
- Maintain all required certifications and keep a strong working knowledge of all supported equipment and systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and service work in the field as a service and maintenance technician.
- Participate in an on‑call rotation, including some nights, weekends, and holidays, to respond to urgent service needs.
- Collaborate with team members and support a family‑oriented, promotion‑focused shop culture.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with petroleum products and related equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical components in petroleum equipment.
- Electronic aptitude, including basic understanding of electrical systems and components.
- Basic computer skills to read work orders, document service activities, and manage parts orders.
- Strong problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic issues in the field.
- Clear and confident communication skills to explain technical issues and repair work to customers.
- Ability to read and follow work orders and complete all documentation accurately and on time.
- Capability to maintain certifications and stay current with all supported equipment.
- Clean driving record to safely operate and manage a service van.
- Experience or familiarity with hand tools, electrical tools, and field service work.
- Comfort working as a field technician, performing service, repair, installation, and maintenance tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in electronics, electrical troubleshooting, or maintenance technician roles.
- Ability to learn new equipment and systems quickly, with training provided as needed.
- Strong attention to detail when ordering parts, managing inventory, and completing paperwork.
- Ability to work independently in the field while representing the company professionally.
- Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation for nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfort working in environments such as gas stations, schools, and commercial buildings.
