Job Overview

Minnesota State University Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. Minnesota State Athletics is now accepting applications for one (1) athletic communications graduate assistant.

This position would report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and would be responsible for assisting with executing the athletic media relations plan; promoting student-athletes, coaches, and teams through a variety of mediums; serve as a primary contact for assigned sports for home and away contests; maintain team archives; supervise interns and game day staff; assist with graphic design;

and implement social media strategies. Evening, weekend, and sometimes holiday hours are expected with these positions.

This position complies with all applicable NCAA, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), and Minnesota State University (MSU) rules, regulations, and protocols in the performance of all job duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Sport Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Admission to and full-time enrollment in a graduate degree program at Minnesota State.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Individual is detail-oriented, intuitive, and can work independently.
  • Willingness to work long hours, nights, weekends, and sometimes holidays.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in intercollegiate athletic administration, preferably in communications, marketing, operations, promotions, or event management.
  • Basic graphic design capabilities and understanding.
  • Experience in managing people.
  • Strong desire to pursue a career in intercollegiate or professional athletics.
  • Ability to convey ideas and plans to MSU Athletics coaches, administrators, and staff members.
