Special Education Life Skills Teacher

Third Future Schools is a high-achieving and growing network of charter schools. This position is located at Manor Middle School, Manor, Texas. The teacher will help students improve academic proficiency, build habits of success, and create a safe and orderly learning environment. The role is supervised by the principal and assistant principal.
Responsibilities- Assess students to determine the need for special education services
- Prepare IEPs or 504s for students who qualify
- Follow IDEA regulations and comply with federal and state laws concerning special education services
- Provide services to assigned students in support of their IEPs and Student Learning Plans
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional lessons and activities
- Create a safe and positive educational climate
- Develop Student Learning Plans and support students in accomplishing their objectives
- Teach an aligned curriculum, clearly stating learning goals and assessment methods
- Maintain focus on student academic and performance outcomes
- Use direct instruction, personalized learning, and special education strategies to help students gain proficiency
- Differentiate instruction and implement Student Learning Plans to maximize student engagement and learning
- Support students in developing habits of success
- Find online resources and materials to supplement instruction and support personalized learning
- Collaborate with colleagues and administration to achieve school goals as outlined in the School Action Plan
- Assess student proficiency, monitor progress, and provide grades per school procedures
- Stay abreast of current educational topics
- Utilize curricula that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds
- Tutor students individually
- Observe and evaluate student performance
- Manage student behavior using approved disciplinary procedures
- Communicate with parents and families to support learning and habits of success
- Expand personal leadership skills
- Participate in professional learning communities and function well as part of a team
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Texas Special Education Certification required.

$70,000 to $75,000 per year.
