Job OverviewProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of learning styles and needs of students.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the principal.
- Be a positive role model for students, supporting the school district mission.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities by taking all necessary precautions.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and instruction material.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Maintain compliance with state, district, and school regulations, including UIL rules.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Use instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the assigned sport.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, promoting growth and sportsmanship.
- Work with staff to plan instructional goals and objectives for student athletes’ overall educational development.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate athletic abilities regularly.
- Take precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Monitor and enforce eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Coordinate competition schedules with the athletic director.
- Continue to evaluate the coaching program and implement changes based on findings.
- Accompany and supervise student athletes during competitions and out-of-town trips.
- Advise students on NCAA regulations regarding academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting.
- Apply and enforce discipline during athletic contests, practices, and trips per Student Code of Conduct.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct by example and instruction.
- Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents.
- Maintain inventory of fixed assets within the program.
- Oversee cleaning, repairing, and storing of athletic equipment.
- Ensure reliable attendance and dependable performance.
- Perform duties assigned by supervisor or administrator consistent with position requirements.
