Job Description
The School Social Worker is a site-based leader for social and mental health services. The School Social Worker regularly interfaces with principals, counselors, and staff to empower young people to meet their full potential. The School Social Worker is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and facilitating groups, individual case loads, family engagement, and programs at campuses to increase attendance, improve behavior, and increase academic goals.
In addition, facilitating program implementation, monitoring progress, and program evaluation are components that lead to continuous improvement. Additional services and support include support to a student’s family, and support for program partners, interns, and volunteers who may be assigned to the campus.
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Experience with crisis intervention, assessments, referrals, group counseling, supportive guidance, and case Management experience
- Experience working with school-age youth and vulnerable populations, and families
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive and productive relationships to effectively collaborate with staff, school personnel, community partners, students and families, team members, and volunteers.
- Highly self‑motivated and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on strength‑based leadership
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Program Design and Support:
You will conduct annual needs assessments and use the data to inform program design and to help identify appropriate resources - Campus Management:
You will maintain positive relationships with campus personnel, market the program appropriately, lead the student referral processes and campus based services. - Data Management and Program Evaluation:
You will implement effective data management systems which will be used for monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and ensuring student growth in Academics, Behavior, and Attendance.
- Professional Development:
You work with team members to develop a professional development plan for partners, teachers, staff, administrators, etc. - Team Supervision & Evaluation:
You will provide ongoing supervision and support to interns. - Leading Team Culture:
You will communicate relevant information including school policies/procedures/practices to the team and promote and maintain department culture/standards/systems
- Counseling & Facilitation:
You will provide individual counseling to students, facilitate groups, case management and practice crisis management as needed - Parental Engagement:
You will conduct outreach to parents and develop parental involvement as needed - Support the MTSS Campus Coordinator:
You will help with addressing root causes to truancy, student behavior, and road blocks to student achievement.
- Represent Manor ISD:
You will represent Manor at school and community meetings and events and make presentations where appropriate - Conduct home visits:
You will confer regularly with teachers and parents at school, home, community spaces, and virtual spaces. - Event Management:
You will organize and coordinate school and community events and advocate for the program. You will host “open houses” or other events for personnel/teachers/parents, and communicate information and activities using appropriate avenues. Support the MISD Mental Health Fair and Back to School Resource fair, and other MISD events as directed.
- Become CPR Certified
- Access to reliable transportation
Able to Supervise BSW and/or MSW Interns

Salary$53,119 to $74,880 Per Year
