A Welder is an experienced welding professional responsible for performing complex and precision welding on a variety of materials and components.
This role typically requires advanced knowledge of welding processes, blueprints, welding symbols, and quality standards.
Job Duties
- Perform advanced MIG and TIG welding on complex assemblies and weldments.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
- Set up and operate welding equipment and select appropriate materials and techniques.
- Perform layout, fitting, tacking, and fabrication of components.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot welding defects and make necessary adjustments.
- Work with various materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
- Follow applicable AWS codes, procedures, and company specifications.
- May provide guidance or support to less experienced welders.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Vocational training, welding certification, or technical education is beneficial.
Experience Requirements
- Experience performing MIG welding on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other metals.
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of welding equipment setup, welding techniques, and safe operating procedures.
- Ability to accurately measure, fit, and prepare materials prior to welding.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, structural welding, or production environments is preferred.
- Experience using grinders, saws, cutting equipment, and metal fabrication tools is beneficial.
- Knowledge of weld inspection, blueprint interpretation, and quality control procedures is considered an asset.
- Individuals who demonstrate craftsmanship, dependability, and a commitment to continuous improvement are well positioned for success as a Welder.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in welding positions throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift metal components, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely wear welding helmets, gloves, and required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to safely work around welding equipment, sparks, heat, and fabrication machinery while following established safety procedures.
