Job Description – Ready Mix Driver
Primary responsibility is to drive the concrete mixer to job sites and safely deliver the load. The work takes place in a variety of settings and conditions including uneven ground, and may require lifting and attaching extension chutes weighing 35–50 pounds. The driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ready‑mix truck used for delivery of products.
Responsibilities- Safely drive the truck to and from destinations, applying knowledge of DOT driving regulations and local roads.
- Check loads to ensure product is being hauled safely and adjust to the desired level.
- Estimate slump of concrete.
- Verify directions with plant personnel before leaving the plant to ensure delivery to the correct customer and job site.
- Strive to meet customer expectations.
- Keep equipment clean using approved materials and supplies.
- Maintain radio contact with supervisor/dispatch to receive and transmit delivery instructions.
- Assist other company employees as needed.
- Complete pre- and post-trip inspections on truck equipment and supplies (tires, lights, brakes, gas, fuel, oil, water).
- May perform minor roadside repairs such as installing light bulbs.
- Maintain knowledge of city traffic routes.
- Take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.
- Adhere to all company, DOT, and OSHA rules and regulations at all times.
- Meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (CDL A or
B). - At least 18 years of age.
- Motor vehicle record cleared—no DUI or DWI in the last 5 years, no refusals or positive drug screen results in the last 5 years, and no more than two moving violations in the previous 3 years.
- Registered with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
- Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Occasional exertion of 50–100 pounds of force.
- Frequent exertion of 25–50 pounds of force.
- Continual exertion of 10–20 pounds of force.
- Ability to talk and hear to communicate with employees/customers and to function safely around heavy rolling equipment.
- Perform all job functions including, but not limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
- Pass DOT physical including back x-ray, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screen.
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
- Must wear protective equipment while on the job.
