JOB SUMMARY
The centralized Information Technology Services Department at the University of Connecticut in Storrs is seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to serve as a shared technical resource between the Reporting and ETL teams, with a primary focus on the University's Microsoft Fabric analytics platform and its supporting data architecture. This position operates under a hybrid work model and requires onsite presence in Storrs three days per week.
The Data Architect designs, governs, and advances the University's analytical data architecture, with responsibility for defining and maturing an end-to-end Microsoft Fabric implementation utilizing One Lake, Lakehouse and Warehouse patterns, orchestration, Python data transformation, and the semantic modeling layer that supports Power BI reporting. The successful incumbent will help drive AI and machine learning capabilities into the data architecture, enabling advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and intelligent data services that enhance institutional insights and operational effectiveness.
Functioning at a senior technical level, this role provides architectural leadership, technical direction, and hands-on development support for enterprise data pipelines, dimensional models, analytical structures, and reporting solutions. The incumbent collaborates closely with team managers, developers, data stewards, and stakeholders to ensure that institutional data is reliable, well-modeled, secure, and effectively used to support decision-making, research, teaching, learning, and outreach.
