Summary/Objective
The Underground Electric Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for underground electrical construction projects. This role supports preconstruction efforts by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents for various underground electrical systems. The position plays a key role in ensuring project profitability through detailed cost analysis and coordination with internal team members.

- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents for underground electrical work
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for duct banks, street lighting, lift stations, underground primary and secondary wiring, terminations, and conduit systems
- Develop accurate cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Analyze project risks and identify cost‑saving opportunities
- Maintain organized and complete estimate documentation
- Collaborate with project managers and operations team members during preconstruction and handoff
- Attend pre‑bid meetings and site visits as required
- Utilize estimating software and spreadsheets to develop and track estimates
- Support value engineering efforts when applicable
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in underground electrical estimating or related field
- Working knowledge of underground electrical systems including duct banks, conduits, primary and secondary wiring, and terminations
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Understanding of material pricing, labor production rates, and construction methods
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
