Role OverviewThis position requires a person to perform simple to moderate complex set ups and operate manual/CNC equipment to manufacture medical components from raw material in a team-based environment. Must be able to comply with all governing rules including Smith+Neghew policies and procedures and adhere to safety and cleanliness practices in the workplace. This position works under moderate supervision.

Shift: Monday-Friday 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm
What will you be doing?- Perform complex set ups and operate CNC and manual metal fabricating equipment, including turning, milling, grinding, drilling, tapping, EDM and honing.
- Operate multiple machines simultaneously.
- Actively participate in product/process improvement and development.
- Set up and operate various inspection instruments as required.
- Set up, train, and monitor lower-level employees.
- Work closely with engineers and toolmakers in fixture design, cutting tool design, process development and part design.
- Make minor fixture modifications and repairs.
- Troubleshoot problems in production and development.
- Provide other machinists with technical support.
- Prepare material and work orders for production as needed.
- Open and secure building as needed.
- Read and understand blueprints.
- Establish cutter compensation and tool offsets.
- Identify and replace dull tooling.
- Perform all essential job functions of a Machinist III.
- Write or edit simple to moderate programs for new products and processes.
- Operate DNC equipment as needed.
- Set up and operate various inspection equipment.
- Complete and understand documentation required to comply with Smith+Neghew policies, Quality Manual and procedures including FDA, QSR, international standards, company policies, labor transactions and bar code scanning.
- Maintain safety, cleanliness of equipment and products, perform simple maintenance, keep work area clean, comply with all health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and job hazard assessments, including medical evaluations as required by job function.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the operation of machining moderate to highly complex components from an array of materials.
- 3+ years of experience with CNC milling, turning, grinding.
- Experience with basic shop math computations including geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to complete simple inspections.
- Knowledgeable in the operation of hand finishing medical components.
- Must be able to sand for extended periods of time and lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
The anticipated base compensation range for this position is $24.63 - $36.89 per hour. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, and geographical location.
