Position: Instructional Aide → 26/27 SY

Chance Light Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking an Instructional Aide to join our award‑winning Special Education team in Mansfield, OH 44902. The role supports students grades K‑12 by providing personalized support, supervision, and guidance in classroom and community settings.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to cultivate a supportive learning environment where all students feel safe and valued.
  • Implement engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions on‑site and in community settings, aligned with each student’s goals.
  • Instruct and monitor students during lessons, ensuring instructional fidelity and applying targeted strategies to enhance comprehension and course completion.
  • Track student progress, communicate with teachers about successes and required interventions.
  • Manage student behavior, reinforce school philosophy and policies, and apply consistent disciplinary measures.
  • Support and mentor students facing academic challenges, helping them develop community, vocational, leisure, domestic, academic, and social skills.
  • Document behaviors and performance accurately; report observations and offer actionable recommendations to staff.
  • Prepare detailed behavioral reports, daily activity logs, and other necessary documentation.
  • Communicate clearly with students, colleagues, supervisors, and families regarding needs, achievements, and concerns.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all student records.
  • Participate in assurance, accreditation activities, school‑wide, and parent advisory meetings.
  • Respond constructively to feedback, demonstrating continuous professional growth.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
  • Licensed or in the process of obtaining a paraprofessional/para educator/education assistant credential preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
  • Prior experience with instruction, guidance, or support for children, preferably in alternative or special education/behavioral health program settings.
  • Experience working with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional behavioral disorders, and/or related disabilities.
  • Ability to stay calm and act quickly in emergencies, and make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in motivating students and having critical conversations to move them toward realistic goals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and initiatives.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision‑making.
  • Knowledge of instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
