There is a Principal position open Spring mill STEM Elementary School - Grades K-8 for Mansfield City Schools for the  school year.

Background in math, science, technology, or engineering by education or training a plus.



SUMMARY

The job of principal is based upon unique skill sets to lead students, parents, guardians, and community members in a collective effort toward the academic growth and achievement of all students. The number of students and families served, the number of activities supervised, and the requirements of an advanced degree with solid experiences in the classroom and other leadership roles make this a unique position.
Knowledge and skills in instructional delivery, the ability to coach teachers, the responsibility for student and staff safety, are essential job functions.
The principal also must have the ability to improve the performance of teachers and other staff members.
The number of days worked, responsibilities for dealing with outside agencies, oversight and implementation of school improvement initiatives increase the responsibility level.
The principal is the lead learner for adults and students in grades 3-4. The principal is accountable to the Superintendent, and Chief Academic Officer for serving as a role model is all aspects of his/her in a large learning community


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must hold a valid Ohio school principal license/certificate.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching experience.
  • Successful experience working in a leadership role in education
  • Must have knowledge of current successful administrative practices and procedures, valid and varied teaching methods and techniques and relevant education research.
  • Must have the skills and desire to work effectively in an urban/suburban setting with a diverse socio-economic, culturally mixed student body.
  • Excellent skills to communicate effectively in speaking and writing to staff, students, parents/guardians, and the community at large.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate, guide and direct staff in setting and achieving the highest standards of educational excellence for the school and district.
  • Must have the ability and attitude to function as a part of the district administrative team and accept responsibilities for tasks assigned.
  • Demonstrates flexibility.
  • Demonstrates talent in successful teaching as reflected in student performance-based and standardized assessments.
  • Demonstrates a problem-solving attitude.
  • Believes and models the refrain that all students can learn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise and evaluate staff assigned to the school
  • Establish and maintain a school climate that enhances teaching and learning.
  • Highly visible and engaging with staff and students
  • Facilitate the administration of student discipline in accordance to district policies
  • Provide instructional leadership to assure that instruction and assessment are aligned with Ohio's learning standards and assessment programs.
  • Implement Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) according to established policies
  • Schedule and execute required school safety drills.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in selecting staff as needed
  • Demonstrates a collaborative approach by having a willingness and ability to work with and through others.
  • The ability to effectively and efficiently utilize and manage the facility and assigned support services through responsible stewardship of school resources and a working knowledge of school finance, such that the needs of the school can be effectively represented in the budgeting process, including budget development, acceptance, and implementation.
  • Be aware of community developments, participating in and attending school and community events to the extent possible.
  • The ability to contribute to the development and implementation of professional growth and staff development programs that raise both aspirations and expertise.
  • Collect and maintain district and Ohio Department of Education compliance documents
  • Construct, implement, and monitor the building OIP plan.
  • Assume supervision and evaluation of the schools extracurricular and athletic programs.
  • Abide by the Mansfield City School Board of Education policies and procedures and follow guidelines found in the negotiated agreement between the Board of Education and the Mansfield School Employees Association.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.
