English Lecturer - Mansfield Campus
The English program at the Ohio State University Mansfield offers the four-year English major, as well as first-year writing and other courses in support of the General Education curriculum.
This is a part-time semester, reappointment lecturer position expected to begin Autumn 2026. Interested applicants should have at least a master's degree in rhetoric and composition or English with experience teaching college-level writing.
Lecturers are an essential component of the English program offerings. In an effort to provide a consistent educational experience for students, lecturers are expected to provide an outstanding educational experience by:
- Following the course syllabus that has been developed by the English department's program committees;
- Utilizing Carmen Canvas as the Learning Management system to post your syllabus, maintain your course grade book, and provide other resources/materials, as applicable.
- Attending professional development meetings to coordinate with other course instructors on class readings, assignments, exercises, and grading rubrics;
- Grading student assignments and providing written comments and feedback to students in a manner that is consistent with the timelines set by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and The Ohio State University;
- Reporting final grades on time;
- Reporting any instances of academic misconduct;
- Following up with students who are granted in completes and ensuring that final grades are submitted; and
- Being accessible to students by email or phone outside of class and having office hours for individual student meetings. If hired, all OSU business should be conducted using the OSU email account assigned to you.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Master's degree in English or rhetoric and composition and prefer someone with experience teaching first year composition at the college-level.
