Supplemental Intervention Teacher-Reading/Math Intervention

The Mansfield Middle School has a position available for the  school year. The Middle School Supplemental Intervention Teacher provides targeted academic intervention and instructional support to students who need additional assistance in reading and/or mathematics. This position is responsible for delivering evidence-based interventions, monitoring student progress, collaborating with classroom teachers and support staff, and helping students build the skills necessary to succeed in the general education curriculum.

The Supplemental Teacher works closely with administrators, intervention teams, and families to support student growth and achievement.

Contract/Status:
Grant Funded, Hourly per contracted rate / not to exceed 29.5 hours per week, no benefits

Qualifications

General:
Valid state teaching license/certificate appropriate for middle school instruction in the area of instruction. Knowledge of evidence-based reading and math intervention practices for adolescent learners. Understanding of middle school curriculum, assessment practices, and instructional strategies. Ability to analyze academic data and use it to inform instruction and intervention decisions. Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with students, families, teachers, administrators, and support staff.

Supplemental Teacher
- Reading:
Must have completed the required science of reading professional development learning modules. Must have one of the following:
Reading Endorsement, Master's Degree, or a Doctoral Degree in Reading, or received a passing score on the Reading Instruction Test (Foundations of Reading 190)

Supplemental Teacher
- Math:
Must have a math license in the middle school grade band (Grade 7-8)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working within an MTSS/RTI framework. Experience with progress monitoring, intervention planning, and data analysis. Experience supporting struggling learners in grades 6-8. Knowledge of intervention programs and instructional technology used for reading and math support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction and Intervention:
Provide small-group and/or individual intervention services to middle school students in reading and/or mathematics based on identified academic needs. Deliver research-based instructional interventions aligned to district curriculum, state standards, and student learning goals. Use assessment data to identify student skill deficits and design targeted instructional plans. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities, English learners, and students performing below grade level.

Reinforce foundational literacy and numeracy skills to accelerate student achievement and close learning gaps. Support classroom instruction by collaborating with teachers to align interventions with grade-level content and expectations. Utilize intervention materials, technology tools, and instructional strategies that promote student engagement and growth.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
Administer screening tools, diagnostic assessments, and progress-monitoring measures to identify student needs and evaluate intervention effectiveness. Maintain accurate records of student performance, intervention schedules, attendance, and progress toward goals. Analyze student data regularly to adjust intervention strategies and instructional groupings as needed. Assist in the development and implementation of intervention plans for students requiring additional academic support.

Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with classroom teachers, intervention specialists, school counselors, special education staff, and administrators to support student success. Participate in problem-solving teams, MTSS/RTI meetings, building leadership discussions, and other school-based support meetings as assigned. Communicate student progress, intervention strategies, and concerns with families and school staff in a timely and professional manner. Work with teachers to recommend classroom supports and strategies that reinforce intervention goals.

Student Support and School Responsibilities:
Foster a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student confidence, perseverance, and academic success. Build strong relationships with students and encourage motivation, responsibility, and a growth mindset. Support school wide academic goals and initiatives related to reading achievement, mathematics performance, attendance, and student success. Follow all district policies, building procedures, and state/federal guidelines related to student instruction, confidentiality, and educational services.
