Responsibilities
- Provide personal financial counseling services at assigned military installations to service members and their families.
- Conduct one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals to outside resources as needed.
- Consult with commanders or other installation staff to ensure programs remain within scope and meet installation needs.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and make available informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and lead Personal Financial Management classes and workshops on topics across the military lifecycle.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure chat, or video).
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues.
- Participate in in‑services, training, quality improvement committees and other contract activities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required (or associate degree plus four years of experience; or high school diploma plus six years of experience).
- At least 3 years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English (bilingual English/Spanish if required by the contract).
- Ability to obtain a Tier 2 investigation and pass the OCI process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Title:
Personal Financial Counselor – Mansfield, OH, Grade 24 (Financial Counseling Work Experience – Required). Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500 per year.
