North Central Fabrication - Welder/Fabricator

Summary: Fabricators cut, shape, join and finish metal to make, maintain or repair metal products and structures. Fabricators may produce patterns/fixtures for fabrication, apply coatings, and work with a variety of materials.

• Examines detailed drawings and specifications
• Cuts, rolls, shapes, bends, molds, spins, heats, or hammers metal products to fabricate parts or sub‑assemblies
• Sets up and/or operates hand and machine tools, torches, and welding equipment
• Assembles parts and structures by lining up and joining them by welding or bolting
• Performs routine inspections on assigned equipment and notifies supervisor of defects or needed repairs
• Adheres to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment
• Possibility to learn and run (CNC) machines
• Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/

Skills:

• Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics to perform duties of the role
• Physically capable of handling heavy materials, tools and machines
• Must obtain the necessary company provided training and certification prior to operating any equipment
• Must maintain a valid driver's license or transportation to and from work
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to work independently with little direction when applicable
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
• Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
• Ability to use equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
• Ability to read drawings
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
• Ability to pass a company provided weld test
