Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, manages the wastewater treatment plant operations from plant intakes and headworks to final outfalls. Observes plant instruments and makes adjustments to plant operation including water flows, filtration, etc. Functionally supervises maintenance mechanics assigned to the treatment plants, collects samples and performs lab tests. Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance. Maintains records and prepares reports as required. Maintains cleanliness of facilities and grounds around facilities.
Performs lift station checks, submits maintenance requests and maintains records and prepares reports.
- Completion of secondary education and three (3) years of wastewater treatment plant operations experience.
- Possession of a Class II Wastewater Operator Certificate from Ohio EPA.
- Valid Ohio CDL license with the ability to obtain tanker and air brake endorsement within 90 days.
- 45% (1) Manages treatment plant operations to ensure that plant and equipment continually operate in accordance with regulatory standards: observes meters, gauges and dials and records readings; performs operational adjustments based on plant and laboratory results, including but not limited to regulating water flow, filtration, treatment controls, mechanical chemical applicators, and maintaining filters.
- 20% (2) Collects samples and performs laboratory analysis by running various tests to analyze content.
- 10% (3) Maintains records reflecting tests performed, adjustments made, readings and other related data; prepares reports as required by county and government regulatory agencies.
- 10% (4) Maintains cleanliness of treatment plant facilities; performs general clean up; maintains grounds surrounding treatment plants.
- 5% (6) Minor repairs and preventive maintenance of plant equipment.
