GENERAL FUNCTIONThis is a part‑time casual position. The position will work 15‑20 hours per week or more during peak seasons and/or additional hours seasonally or as production warrants. The primary focus of this position is to work in one or more of the areas of surface, coating or finish as assigned. Duties of this position are usually repetitive. Specific duties for this position range depending on the assigned department.
Supervision ranges from close to general.
- FINISH – Tray Up: prep and monitor trays for edging. Beveler: utilize the bevel wheel to remove the sharp edges. Mounter: mount lens in standard frames; drill and mount lenses into specialty frames. Roll and Polish: smooth sharp edges and gloss edges by using tools and machinery provided. Finish Layout: prepare an uncut lens for the edging process. Tinter: accurately tint all lenses going through the tinting department.
Inspection: inspect lenses and frames to ensure that they are optically and cosmetically accurate. - SURFACE – Blocker: tray lens blanks, tape and block to accommodate automation; monitor surfacing equipment keeping it loaded and clearing errors. Polisher: operate and maintain polishing equipment. Deblock/Wash: remove blocking system wash and inspect lenses for cosmetic defects.
- AR‑COATING – AR Staging: scan and sort jobs for scratch and anti‑reflective coating treatments. Clipping: clean lenses and place in holders for wash and scratch coat machines. Hard Coat Inspection: inspect lenses for cosmetic defects after scratch coat application. Perform tests on various scratch coating baths to verify all are within specification. AR Coat: load lenses into holders for anti‑reflective coating – monitor machines.
- GENERAL – operate and maintain associated tools and machinery; inspect small parts for defect‑ quality control.
Assemble small components using hand tools, requiring precision and attention to detail, and using correct techniques; work in a role with measurable standards – maintaining production goals; other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Must be a team player, flexible and willing to learn and adapt to new assignments, commit to keeping a clean work area, and adhere to all safety policies and standards.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the organization.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, and number sequences including decimal (English).
- Ability to use computers and electronic machinery, communicate electronically, add, subtract and measure.
