Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame within the institution's philosophy. Must be able to take “Call” on a rotating basis during week, weekends and holidays, and arrive to the department within 20 minutes or less.
Responsibilities- Perform all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
- Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care for integration into the healthcare team.
- Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care based on unit standards and patient/family needs.
- Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures, modifying the plan based on continuous assessment.
- Prepare OR suite for patient, including supplies, equipment and medications.
- Interview patient using identification (name and birth date), and transport patient to the appropriate OR suite and onto the OR table with safety precautions.
- Perform timeouts upon entry of suite, prior to incision, and prior to exiting the OR suite.
- Appropriately position and prep patient for procedure using positional aides and guidelines.
- Support the surgical team during procedure, responding to requests for supplies, blood, specimens, cultures, medications, dressing, etc.
- Transport patient to PACU or specific unit and provide handoff to receiving RN.
- Provide clear and accurate documentation throughout pre‑op and PACU.
- Assist in admitting patients to the PACU and provide direct patient care to those emerging from anesthesia.
- Maintain care in PACU to ASPAN standards.
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Education:
College diploma in nursing. - Work experience relevant to patient care and surgical settings.
- Ability to take “Call” on a rotating basis and respond within 20 minutes.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
Sign‑on bonus available ($2,500). Relocation bonus available for moves greater than 50 miles. Comprehensive benefits package for team members and providers. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting; actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
