Test Lab Supervisor

About the Role:

The Test Lab Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations of the manufacturing test laboratory to ensure all testing activities meet stringent quality and safety standards. This position is responsible for managing a team of technicians and engineers, coordinating testing schedules, and maintaining laboratory equipment to support product development and quality assurance processes. The supervisor ensures compliance with industry regulations and internal protocols, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.

By collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams such as production, engineering, and quality control, the supervisor facilitates timely identification and resolution of product issues. Ultimately, this role ensures that all products leaving the manufacturing process meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements, contributing to the company’s reputation for excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing test laboratory environment, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, laboratory safety standards, and quality control processes.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory testing equipment and data analysis software.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems.
  • Certification in laboratory management or quality assurance (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician).
  • Familiarity with automated testing systems and advanced data analytics tools.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing industry setting, particularly in electronics or mechanical product testing.
  • Advanced degree or specialized training in a related technical discipline.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the test laboratory team, including scheduling, task delegation, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable product evaluation.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to guarantee accurate and precise test results.
  • Monitor compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality policies within the lab environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to analyze test data and support product development and troubleshooting.
  • Train and mentor laboratory staff to enhance technical skills and promote adherence to best practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports on testing outcomes, laboratory performance metrics, and improvement recommendations for senior management.
  • Manage inventory of testing supplies and coordinate with procurement to ensure uninterrupted lab operations.
