Salary Range: $20.00 To $22.00 Hourly
Reports to: Team Lead, Shelter Services/Deputy Director
Status: Full-time, On call
The Hospital Response Advocate provides crisis intervention, advocacy, and resource coordination for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, strangulation, human trafficking, and related crimes. This role supports survivors in accessing medical, legal, and community services while promoting safety, healing, and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities- Crisis Intervention & Advocacy
- Provide immediate crisis intervention, emotional support, and trauma‑informed advocacy to survivors
- Educate survivors on their rights, options, and available medical, legal, and community resources
- Coordinate with healthcare providers, law enforcement, and service agencies
- Accompany survivors to medical exams, interviews, and court proceedings as needed
- Safety Planning
- Develop individualized safety plans with survivors
- Provide guidance on housing, protective orders, and personal safety
- Case Management
- Provide case management services for shelter clients including ongoing support and coordination
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential records
- Compile reports and program data for compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned, including on‑call response and cross‑coverage for shelter or crisis roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field (preferred)
- Experience working with survivors of violence
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practice.
- Completion of relevant training programs on sexual assault, domestic violence, strangulation, and human trafficking advocacy, such as crisis intervention, trauma response, and victim advocacy.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed to respond to crises and accommodate client schedules. This position will respond to hospital calls for Avita and Ohio Health.
- Present a professional appearance by following business attire guidelines, including neat and appropriate clothing and footwear such as closed‑toe dress shoes, to foster credibility and approachability when engaging with volunteers, community partners, and organizational stakeholders.
2nd shift, 3-11 pm, on call rotating weeks, 40 h/w
