The Youth Advocate & Pet Intake Specialist delivers trauma-informed, survivor-centered services to children and youth while coordinating pet intake services, aligned with ODVN and OAESV competencies.
Key Responsibilities- Trauma-Informed Youth Advocacy
- Provide trauma-informed advocacy and conduct needs assessments for youth.
- Facilitate support groups and promote youth empowerment.
- Crisis Intervention & Safety Planning
- Provide crisis intervention and assist with safety planning.
- Respond to disclosures in compliance with mandated reporting laws.
- Youth Program Development & Prevention Education
- Plan and implement youth education programs and prevention for the schools, in central coordination with the Outreach and Community Engagement team.
- Coordinate summer programming and awareness campaigns.
- School & Systems Advocacy
- Serve as liaison with schools and community systems.
- Outreach & Community Collaboration
- Provide outreach services and build community partnerships.
- Cultural Responsiveness & Equity
- Deliver inclusive, culturally responsive services.
- Documentation, Confidentiality & Ethics
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold confidentiality standards.
- Pet Intake & Care
- Ensure health and safety of pets and maintain documentation.
- Training & Professional Development
- Complete required training and continuing education.
- Education & Experience
- 1–3 years of relevant experience required.
- Trauma-informed care and crisis intervention skills.
- Knowledge of child development and advocacy systems.
- Professional Expectations
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Perform effectively in crisis environments.
